Sri Lankan boxer Shiromali Weerarathana, who took part in Round 16 women’s boxing event at the Commonwealth Games, has emerged victorious.
The event was held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center in Glasgow, Scotland.
Shiromali contested under the 69 kg+ weigh class and defeated Keabetsoe Mothibeli of Lesotho.
Weerarathana gave a performance with powerful attacking style, which led to her win.
She will next face Nigerian boxer Edith Ogoke in the semi finals.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Badminton player Niluka Karunarathna won his first men’s singles 2-0 against Abraham Ayittey of Nigeria.
